John Davies

MSc, PgDip Psychotherapy
Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist
BABCP. 903927

John leads our Dental Behavioural Management Services here at one80 Dental, and uses CBT with patients to focus on how their thoughts, beliefs and attitudes (cognitive processes) can create feelings and moods, and how this can relate to the forming of certain habits and behaviours. He works together with patients to understand what the problems are and to develop new strategies for tackling them.

He is a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist who works in collaboration with our clinicians to help support patients who may have developed significant anxieties or behaviours that have directly impacted upon their dentition or replacement teeth. John has over 25 years experience as a Psychotherapist in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) in both private practice and the NHS. He has a particular interest in anxiety related problems and obsessive compulsive disorder, and has developed behavioural and treatment models in the areas of dental anxiety and atypical facial pains and bruxism (the clenching or grinding of teeth). His work is grounded in research and professional experience and he has published papers specifically related to dental anxieties and the management of them in a dental setting.
