Julie qualified as a Dental Hygienist at the Eastman Dental Institute in London in 1995, and then worked for a short time in community dental health before working in general practice where she still works to the present day.
She later went on to do the extended duties course and went to college to gain a City & Guilds qualification in teaching.
After many years at local level of the British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy (BSDHT), she was elected in 2010 to the post of President Elect.
Julie later became President of the BSDHT – the largest DCP organisation in the UK representing dental hygienists and therapists for the term of 2012 – 2014, where her role took her all over the UK and the world as an ambassador for the profession.
In 2011 – 2012, Julie also undertook a 9 month teaching post at Sheffield Dental School teaching student Dental Hygienists/Therapists clinical skills.
She has also written articles and given presentations to various groups around the UK.
She is a current member of BSDHT, as well as a member of the British Society of Periodontology (BSP), and the British Association of Forensic Odontologists (BAFO)
Julie has a particular interest in treating periodontal disease and the holistic approach to total oral care and well being.
