Though Easter celebrations are over, Sheffield still has much to offer for the rest of the spring season. Here is a selection of the local offerings coming up during May:
Jesus Christ Superstar
Running until the 2nd May at the Lyceum Theatre, this production stars the X Factor’s Rhydian Roberts and Glenn Carter, as well as Glenn Carter and Tim Rogers. In Sheffield for a limited amount of time, Jesus Christ Superstar has received rave reviews. Now over forty years old, it is a classic musical with songs that will be familiar to many.
Highland Fling Country Fair
For one day only on the 4th May, Graves Park will be transformed. A particularly family-friendly event, the Highland Fling Country Fair will include a farmers market, food stalls, trade stalls and the Rose Garden Cafe. Animal lovers will especially enjoy the displays throughout the event, with ferret racing, sheep shearing and of course the Highland Cattle Show.
Kelham Island Museum at Night
Kelham Island Museum will be open after hours on the 14th May for a very different visit than usual! For just £5, you can explore the museum with a First World War Munitionette. A great way to get to know our local history as you learn about how steelmaking influenced the growth of Sheffield. This torchlit tour is for one night only and a special way to experience the museum. Booking in advance is advised.
Mary’s Marvellous Vintage and Craft Market
For just £1 entry, you could spend the day at this vintage and craft market. An event that’s great for families, the market features locally made arts and crafts. With food provided all day, there’s also the opportunity to try treats ranging from cakes to curry. It’s also the perfect opportunity to search for a vintage trinket and purchase a truly unique item. This event is held at the St Mary’s Church and Community Centre.
