Cosmetic Dentistry
Long-lasting aesthetics, all in one place
At one80 Dental we are committed to creating and importantly maintaining happy, healthy and beautiful looking smiles. We know that having a beautiful smile is important for many reasons and at our practice we have the expertise, experience and facilities all under one roof.
If you are unhappy or self-conscious about the colour of your teeth, then whitening or bleaching treatments can provide a simple, non-invasive solution with relatively fast results. As we age, our teeth can naturally change colour however they are also susceptible to discolouration from staining liquids and foodstuff such as coffee, red wine or tobacco. A build-up of calculus or tartar can also cause teeth to become more yellow, however whitening treatment can help to improve the colour of dull or discoloured teeth and restore a brighter smile.
At one80 Dental we provide a convenient whitening treatment that you can use at home.
Your Appointment
Your whitening consultation will be carried out by a dentist and the health of your teeth and gums will be assessed to ensure that they are suitable for a whitening procedure**. We will take a digital impression of your mouth using our 3D intra-oral (within the mouth) scanner in order to create a tailor made, clear, thin mouthguard (or bleaching tray) which will be unique to your teeth. Once your mouthguards are received you will return for a second appointment to ensure they fit correctly, shown how to apply the gels yourself and feel confident to do so, after which you can take your whitening kit home to begin the process.
The effectiveness of whitening treatment can vary. However, maintain a good oral health routine by visiting the dentist and dental hygienist regularly, and avoid food and drink that can cause staining and you can expect the effects to last between 18 months to 2 years. After this time you will only need a top up which you can buy at the practice.
Our dental hygienist team provides EMS airflow polishing therapy as standard, which efficiently removes stains, plaque biofilm and calculus using a high-powered antibacterial stream of water, compressed air and fine powder particles. This therapy can be provided as a stand-alone treatment or in conjunction with whitening procedures, as it supports the process by removing build-up that could hinder the effects of bleaching.
**Please note – If your oral health is initially found to be unsuitable, we can work with you to reach the optimum level and will look to rectify any potential issues first. This may require going to see your own dentist if you have one, or seeing our own dental team including the dental hygienists at one80 Dental.
At one80 Dental we treat you as an individual and as such we can provide a whole range of treatments to improve the function and look of your mouth. In many cases small and simple improvements can make a big difference to your smile and your self-confidence. All our aesthetic solutions are focused on making the most of what you have.
Composite bonding is a tooth coloured filling material, used as a cosmetic solution that can be applied to a tooth (or several teeth) surface to close gaps, improve proportions or even redesign a whole smile. It can also be used to fix chipped teeth and staining in both teeth and fillings. Unlike porcelain veneer placement, which can take more than two visits, composite resin bonding can be completed in one appointment, is non-invasive and is less expensive.
This treatment is also ideal following a tooth whitening procedure as the composite material can be matched to the brighter and whiter shade of the natural teeth. It is also ideal after orthodontic treatment as any gaps or discolouration discovered as a result of tooth movement can be dealt with efficiently by composite material – this popular combination is often referred to as Alignment, Bleaching and Bonding (ABB).
Veneers are cosmetic restorations that cover your existing teeth to hide existing damage, discolouration, wear or chipping, to optimise the aesthetic appearance. At one80 Dental we offer either porcelain or composite veneers as a solution, both options do come with their benefits and drawbacks and depending on your individual needs and preferences our dentists will consider the most appropriate solution at the treatment planning phase.
Crowns are a solution to improve the appearance of a smile and / or are used to cover (encapsulate) natural teeth when they are damaged or heavily filled, or in dental implant cases will act as the replacement tooth in place of the natural tooth or teeth (implant supported crowns). They can be used in several ways but are commonly used to strengthen natural teeth, close gaps, to restore worn teeth or to act as a replacement tooth or teeth. When crowns are used to replace several missing teeth in a row, they may be connected together to form bridgework.
At one80 Dental we are familiar with all contemporary material crowns, and our restorative dental surgeons are dedicated to producing consistently beautiful, individual work with an emphasis on crafting natural looking restorations which both complement and enhance your existing natural teeth.
Our dentists have forged close working relationships over many years with quality dental laboratories and highly skilled technicians, who share the same level of commitment as our team in creating bespoke, natural looking restorations such as veneers, dentures, crowns and bridgework for you and your new smile.
Whatever cosmetic solution you are looking for, our experienced dental team are well placed to discuss your options in more detail at your initial consultation and following a detailed assessment will provide you with their recommendations for treatment going forwards.
Gum contouring (or gum sculping) is a cosmetic dental treatment used to reduce a low or uneven gum line or ‘gummy smile’, these procedures involve removing excess gum to improve and enhance your smile.
At one80 Dental our Specialist in Periodontics has a breadth of experience in carrying out gum reshaping treatments and whether you require simple soft tissue sculpting or more advanced treatment such as a gum lift, he will discuss your treatment options with you in detail and base his recommendations on your individual needs. Very often these procedures will be carried out in collaboration with our restorative dental surgeons to ensure you receive optimum results and a natural looking, healthy smile.
