Digital dentistry, quality patient care
At one80 Dental we are committed to providing you with the highest quality care and overall patient experience. We continuously invest in our practice, facilities and staff to ensure we stay up to date with the latest in dental technology, treatments and innovations.
Great advances have been made in digital dentistry technologies over the last few years which have become invaluable to our practice, particularly when we are planning complex treatments and surgical procedures. 3D digital imaging is a useful diagnostic tool for dental implants, orthodontics, endodontics and periodontal treatments.
Benefits of digital technology for you as our patient are:
Impression free digital dentistry
At one80 Dental we use the TRIOS intra-oral scanner to create accurate 3D digital images of your teeth and mouth, without the use of traditional impression taking. We find that our patients much prefer this process as it is much less invasive and much quicker, and helps our more anxious patients to feel much more comfortable and entirely removes the almost choking sensation that traditional impression taking can cause for our patients who suffer with a sensitive gag reflex.
We use the TRIOS to plan complex treatments and send the images directly to our dental laboratories to use when creating replacement ‘teeth’ for complex restorative treatments. Our sophisticated software will also track any wear or damage to your teeth over a period of time which is a useful tool for your regular dental check-ups; and we can simulate potential treatment outcomes for orthodontic or smile design cases before you even start treatment with us. There is even an App you can download to your phone or tablet so you can keep and refer to any digital scans taken of your mouth.
Digital diagnostic tools
CBCT (Cone Beam Computational Tomography) is a state-of-the-art technique to create 3D X-Ray images of your mouth, individual teeth or if required both your upper and lower jaw bones. Our clinicians then use these images to accurately diagnose and plan your treatment and ongoing care.
We also use OPT or DPT as standard, which is a uses a similar technique to CBCT, except it produces panoramic 2D images rather than 3D. Our clinicians use both diagnostic tools to support their treatment planning for dental implant planning, oral surgery, root canal procedures (endodontics), periodontics, orthodontics amongst others.
