Discreet to wear and easy to take out when you need to

At one80 Dental we offer Invisalign® treatment as a discreet orthodontic option to straighten teeth. Using the custom-made, Invisalign clear aligners we can straighten upper teeth only, lower teeth only or both upper and lower teeth.

Unlike traditional fixed braces, Invisalign aligners can be removed at any time, day or night, so patients are able to maintain good oral hygiene and eat what they like throughout the treatment.

Invisalign is the perfect solution to crooked or misaligned teeth without having to wear traditional metal braces.

As with all of the orthodontic treatments available at the practice we offer a free, no obligation consultation with a treatment advisor so you can discuss how you feel about your teeth and what you want from teeth straightening treatment.  We can help you decide whether Invisalign is the most suitable option, advise on the likely treatment costs as well as the likely time frame.

Using virtual 3D treatment planning (ClinCheck®) we will be able to show you the series of movements your teeth will go through over the course of your treatment. This allows you to see right from the start, before your aligners are made, what your teeth are expected to look like at the end of the Invisalign treatment plan.

During your treatment journey with us you can expect to wear each aligner for about two weeks before replacing with the next in the series. With each aligner your teeth will move – little by little, week by week and we will monitor your progress every six weeks or so and make any adjustments you may need.

As the aligners only work while you are actually wearing them, we recommend they are kept in place for at least 22 hours per day, removing only for eating and cleaning.

The treatment time will vary depending on the complexity of your case. An average treatment time is between 12 and 18 months. As with all teeth straightening methods, you will need to wear a retainer following treatment to prevent your teeth moving back to their original position.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the average treatment time?

Invisalign ranges from as little as 14 weeks for minor movements up to 18 months for more complex cases.

What is a clincheck?

A clincheck is a 3D treatment plan that shows you how your smile could look before any work is done.

Will Invisalign aligners affect my speech?

Everyone is different; if you do notice you have a small lisp this will go after a few days.

How do I clean my aligners?

We recommend brushing aligners the same way and times as you brush your teeth. Also brush the aligners after eating in luke warm water as this will help to keep them fresher for longer. Many patients find an inexpensive denture cleaner also works well.

What if I lose my clear aligner?

We always recommend that the previous brace is kept so if you are only a few days into your new aligner you can place the previous one in and book an appointment with one80 Dental for a review. If you are a week into the new aligner, move onto the next brace in the series.

Will they hurt?

Undergoing any orthodontic treatment will cause temporary, minor discomfort with a new aligner, but this will soon ease after a day or so. This is normal and is typically described as a feeling of pressure. It’s a sign that the aligners are doing their job.

An attachment came off what do I do?

Simply inform us and on your next appointment we can place this back on.

Are there restrictions on what I can eat while in treatment?

Unlike traditional braces with wires and brackets, with the Invisalign aligner you can eat what you like because you remove the aligners to eat and drink. This also makes it easy to brush and floss your teeth after each meal, before re-inserting your aligners.

Can I drink with them in?

We recommend you drink water or clear liquids to stops the aligner from staining, if you are on a night out we recommend you drink through a straw to minimize staining.

How often should I wear the aligners?

You should wear your aligners at all times during treatment, except when eating, brushing or flossing teeth. Recommended wear is 22 hours a day.

What happens when my Invisalign treatment ends?

If you want your teeth to remain in their ideal position, it’s best to wear a retainer.

Quick Orthodontic FAQs

Discreet. They are almost invisible and avoid the traditional ‘metal mouth’ look.

Easy to clean. You can easily remove them and continue to clean and care for your teeth as you normally would.

Removable. You can take them out to eat, drink and clean your teeth.

Comfort. They are precisely fitted to the shape of your teeth and mouth and because they are made from a light-weight plastic, rather than traditional metal braces, they are less likely to rub the inside of your mouth and cheeks.

We would suggest that you investigate all the options before you make a decision and our best advice is to seek a professional opinion, as they are best placed to guide you. Make an appointment with Tania Murphy our Specialist in Orthodontics who will talk you through the options on offer to you, any possible risks and if there are any appropriate alternatives.

Unless your case is particularly complex then it is likely that you are a suitable candidate for Invisalign. It is also a great solution for both adults and teens looking for a virtually invisible method to improve their smile.  Why not make an appointment with Tania Murphy our Specialist in Orthodontics who will consider and advise you of solutions that are appropriate to your individual case.
