She uses glycolic acid peels for patients who want to avoid the discomfort and recovery period associated with traditional peels, which are designed to create a controlled wounding or burning of the skin.
Glycolic acid peels work differently, producing refreshing results by dissolving a glue-like substance in the outermost layer of the skin that allows the dead, thickened layers to lift away without wounding the skin. The build up of dead layers makes skin appear dull and coarse and contributes to the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
These peels leave the skin looking smoother, softer and firmer and medical studies show that they encourage the production of substances known to increase firmness and soften deep lines.
Samantha also provides a range of other peels for skin conditions including acne, rosacea, oily skin, sun damage and actinic keratosis:
- Mandelic acid peels are effective at controlling the rosacea symptoms of reddening and thread veins.
- Pyruvic acid peels produce a safe chemical exfoliation with remarkable results and few side effects; expect only mild red patches that generally disappear within a few hours after application. You’ll be able to resume your normal activities straight away.
- Salicylic acid peels are designed for people suffering from acne and one of their main functions is to reduce the amount of oil produced by the skin. They also contain ingredients that are proven to reduce the visible signs of acne.
- Jessner’s peels are used primarily as a preparation peel for medium to deep peeling and can also be used to treat areas of hyper pigmentation such as melasma, also known as pregnancy mask, which is characterised by tanned or brown patches on the face.
