As we head into the final stage of summer, there’s lots happening in our local area. Here’s our pick of what Sheffield has to offer us in August!
A Cultural Legacy – Remembering Frank Constantine
Running until the 29th August at the Graves Gallery, this exhibition celebrates Frank’s amazing collecting. As Director of Sheffield City Art Galleries from 1964-1982, Frank made an amazing contribution to the cultural life of the area – ‘bringing world-class artworks to the city’s collection’.

Northern Futures at MADE NORTH Design and Craft Gallery
Running until the 8th August, this is a celebration of the current talent emerging from the region. ‘The showcase aims to cement the North as a hotbed of new creativity and exposes our talent to the world’. This event showcases how much creativity is currently emerging from the North of England.

The Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize
Held at The Millennium Gallery at Museums Sheffield and running until the 16th August, this exhibition comes on tour to Sheffield from the National Portrait Gallery. It features the work of some of the most exciting contemporary photographers and explores both traditional and original approaches to the photographic portrait. The works on show include the winner of the John Kobal New Work Award.

Sing-a-Long Frozen
On the 21st and 22nd August at the Lyceum Theatre, all the family can join and sing along with Disney’s hit film. With the infamous ‘Let It Go’ and the heart wrenching ‘Do You Wanna Build A Snowman?’ and other favourites, this will be something that everyone can enjoy. There will be a live host and magic moments fun pack so that attendees can interact with the film.

Sheffield Fayre at Norfolk Heritage Park
Organised by Sheffield City Council in partnership with The Friends of Norfolk Heritage Park, this Fayre on 30th-31st August will have the famous Horticultural Show, as well as showcasing music and dance acts. There are sideshow, fairground archives, street performers, market stalls, fairground rides, grass sledging, classic cars… The list goes on!
