We are delighted to announce that we have raised £1,500 for charity to mark the 20th birthday of our Springmount Dental Practice in Matlock.
Springmount first opened its doors to patients in March 1995 and we decided to raise money for Ashgate Hospicecare during 2015 to celebrate this major business milestone.
Dentist Galer Farrer set the pace by raising more than £1,000 for the Chesterfield hospice after completing the Plusnet Yorkshire Half Marathon.
The Bank Road practice also donated profits during the year from the sale of dental products such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss and tape.
Practice owner and lead dentist Nigel Rosenbaum said: “Our brilliant staff and patients helped us to celebrate our 20th year in Matlock in a great way and we are delighted to support Ashgate Hospicecare which provides such a vital service to local communities.”
Nigel, one of the country’s leading dental experts, launched the Springmount practice seven years after qualifying as a dentist.
It has since treated thousands of patients and two years ago expanded to incorporate a state-of-the-art centre for advanced dentistry at Totley, Sheffield.
Nigel said: “In the last 20 years, the world of dentistry has seen advances in technology.
“For example, mercury fillings have largely been replaced by tooth-coloured composite restorations and removable dentures have, for many people, been replaced with implant-supported high-strength porcelain crowns.
“The technological advances since 1995 enable us to deliver stronger and better-looking solutions for our patients. We are proud to maintain our position at the cutting edge such innovative solutions.”
Money was also raised for Ashgate Hospicecare and Edale Mountain Rescue from a unique art exhibition celebrating mountaineering and landscape held at one80dental.
The exhibition of paintings, ceramics, textiles and photography also included a talk from one of the country’s leading climate change experts, Prof Kevin Anderson from the University of Manchester.
Ashgate Hospicecare needs to raise £1m over to keep an additional four beds open and to fund improvements to its inpatient unit.
