Invisalign is a great alternative if you’re looking for a way to straighten your teeth and don’t want traditional metal braces. But do you know how it works?
Our blog will outline the journey, from start to finish.
Can I speak to an Invisalign specialist?
At one80 Dental, the first step in your Invisalign journey is to have a free, no obligation consultation with one of our treatment advisors. This will give our Specialist Orthodontist, Tom Frawley an idea of how you feel about your teeth and what you’d like from your treatment, so he can provide tailored advice.
We can do this either in person or online, whichever is best for you.
What will my smile look like after Invisalign?
After your consultation with Tom, we’ll then use 3D treatment planning (known as a Clincheck) to show you how Invisalign will work for you. After seeing the stages of movement that’ll happen to your teeth, it’s time to see the smile you’ll love.
From the start of your journey, you’ll know what your teeth should look like before the aligners are made. Giving you complete confidence in the process.
How does Invisalign work?
Invisalign aligners are made of a clear, flexible material that’s laser-trimmed to your gumline. Since they’re discreet and can be removed to promote oral health, you don’t need to worry about the drawbacks of traditional braces.
However, wearing your aligners is vital.
You should wear your aligners for 22 hours per day and only remove when eating and cleaning. They make your teeth move little-by-little, so as the weeks pass you’ll notice a difference in your smile.
After two weeks of wearing one aligner, you should start using the next in the series to continue your Invisalign journey.
Every six weeks, you’ll have a check-up with our specialist to make sure your treatment is going as it should. We’ll make any adjustments needed to achieve your perfect smile.
How long does Invisalign take?
Treatment takes from 12 to 18 months, on average. But some treatments can be as short as 14 weeks. The duration depends on how much movement is needed. Dr Tolm Frawley will discuss this with you in your consultation.
At the end of your treatment, you’ll have the smile you’ve always wanted!
